In-Line Extractor Fans Ø100–315 mm

An inline extractor fan is fitted in the ductwork, away from the room it serves, and pulls the air along the duct. It extracts humid, stale air from bathrooms, WCs, kitchens and utility rooms, and it can also supply fresh air. The inline duct fans here cover Ø100 to Ø315 ducting.

Which in-line fan?

Two figures decide the choice: airflow in m³/h and noise in dB(A). The duct diameter then narrows it down. Every bend and every metre of duct costs airflow, so allow for the length of the run.

Mixed-flow in-line fans

A mixed-flow fan pairs the airflow of an axial fan with the pressure of a centrifugal one. These have a plastic casing, fit Ø100 to Ø315 ducting and move 150 to 1840 m³/h. There are standard versions and versions with a timer.

Quiet in-line fans

The quiet models are mixed-flow fans housed in a sound-absorbing casing that holds the motor noise in. They fit Ø100 to Ø315 ducting and start at 17 dB(A). Both standard and timer versions are available, with two or three speeds. The full selection is on the silent extractor fans page.

Centrifugal in-line fans

Centrifugal models have a galvanised steel casing and come in seven sizes, Ø100 to Ø315, moving 411 to 1279 m³/h. An autotransformer speed controller sets the speed.

In-line fans with EC motor

These mixed-flow fans run on an EC motor. Sizes are Ø150 and Ø200, airflow is 263 to 825 m³/h, and a potentiometer sets the speed.

Axial in-line fans

The axial fans are compact, with a plastic casing, in Ø100 and Ø120. They move 100 to 190 m³/h.

Ratings

Common questions

Is an inline extractor fan better?

It is the better choice where fan noise matters, or where the fan cannot go in the room itself. The motor sits in the duct, away from the room. It does need space and access, a loft for instance.

What is the maximum duct length for an inline extractor fan?

No single figure applies. Each metre of duct and each bend adds resistance and lowers the airflow. Rigid duct and wide bends keep that loss down. The fan data gives the airflow at a given resistance.

Can one in-line fan serve two rooms?

Yes, with the two ducts joining before the fan. A damper or an air valve in each branch divides the air between the rooms.

In-line extractor fans
