Self-adhesive insulation sheet
The sheet is black rubber with a peel-off adhesive back, so it sticks straight onto the duct. It comes in seven thicknesses: 6, 9, 13, 19, 25, 32 and 50 mm. Depending on the thickness, one roll covers 3 to 15 m². It works from −50 to +100 °C, with thermal conductivity from 0.036 W/m·K and water-vapour diffusion resistance of 7,000 and above.
Insulation tape
The tape closes the seams between sheets and covers short sections of pipe. It is self-adhesive rubber, 3 mm thick and 50 mm wide, on 15 m rolls.
Adhesives
At the seams and joints, contact adhesive bonds the rubber insulation. It comes in 0.5 L, 2.5 L and 2.6 L tins and is rated to +105 °C.
Cleaners and thinner
Two products prepare the surface before the insulation is glued: a surface cleaner and a combined thinner and cleaner, 1 L each.
The same sheet and tape also insulate refrigerant and condensate lines. The parts for those lines are under air conditioning parts.

What is duct insulation?
It is a layer around the duct that keeps the duct wall close to the temperature of the air inside, so it stops condensation and cuts heat loss. The insulation in this range is closed-cell rubber.
What happens if ducts are not insulated?
Condensation forms where warm, humid air meets a cold duct wall. The water runs along the duct and drips from the joints. The air also loses heat on the way.
How do you insulate your ductwork?
Clean the duct surface with the cleaner. Peel the backing off the sheet and press the sheet on around the duct. Close every seam with insulation tape or adhesive, because an open seam lets moist air reach the cold duct.
What type of insulation is best for ducts?
Closed-cell rubber suits a duct that carries moist air, because it resists water vapour. The other choice is insulated ducting, which comes with the insulation already on it.
