Air conditioners

A condensate tray sits under the outdoor unit and catches the water that drips from it. The trays with brackets are 830 to 1250 mm long, and a floor-mounted tray has its own anti-freeze heating cable. See condensate trays.

A siphon stops drain odours coming back up the condensate line into the air conditioner. It goes where the line joins a waste pipe. The anti-odour siphons fit drain pipe from 14 to 40 mm, in waterless, anti-insect and check-valve versions. See siphons.

A condensate pump lifts the water to a drain it cannot reach by gravity, for example when the drain is higher than the unit. The mini pumps for split units move 8 to 22 litres an hour, with a discharge height of 8 to 15 m. See condensate pumps.

The rigid system builds a straight Ø21 mm drain line that holds its shape. The pipe is sold in 2 m lengths, with elbows, tees, coupling sleeves and fixing clips, and the system is UV-resistant. See rigid condensate drain system.

Refrigerant pipes carry the refrigerant between the indoor and outdoor units. The copper comes already insulated, which stops condensation on the cold pipe. Sizes run from 1/4" to 7/8", single or twin, on 20, 25 and 50 m coils, and the pipe is rated for R32, R410A and R407C. See refrigerant pipes.

Trunking hides and protects the refrigerant pipe, the drain and the cable on the wall. The lengths are 1 m and 2 m in two sizes; couplers join them and 90° elbows turn the run, in the same colours. See pipe trunking.

A heating cable keeps a drain line that runs outside from freezing. Each cable has a thermostat and comes in 3, 6 or 9 m. See heating cables.

Brackets carry the outdoor unit and keep it level. Wall brackets hold it on an outside wall, and floor supports lift it off the ground or a flat roof. Other brackets suit a sloping roof or a ceiling. Load ratings run from 120 to 650 kg. See outdoor unit brackets.

The evaporator and surface cleaner clears the dirt that builds up on the indoor unit. It comes in 1 L and 5 L. See maintenance products.
