When a plate mounted fan fits

An axial fan shifts a large volume of air at low pressure, which makes it right for an opening straight through a wall or a panel. A long duct is another matter: against resistance, the airflow of an axial fan drops fast.

Axial flow fans

The fans are built from aluminium and steel. They draw 19 to 151 W and run at 39 to 56 dB(A). Four of the sizes work from −15 to +40 °C, and the fifth from −40 to +60 °C. Any fan in the range takes a single-phase speed controller, listed under fan speed controllers.

Common questions

What is an axial fan?

Its blades push the air along the axis of the motor, much like a propeller, so the air passes straight through the fan.

What are the disadvantages of axial fans?

It builds little pressure. A long duct, a filter or a tight grille all add resistance, and the airflow drops fast against it.

Do axial fans push or pull air?

Both. Air is pulled in on one side and pushed out on the other. Which way round the fan is mounted decides whether it extracts or supplies.
