A heating cable stops condensate freezing in the drain line of an air conditioner or a heat pump where the line runs outside. Frozen water blocks the line.
Tecnosystemi SCC300017 3m anti-freezing silicone heating cable with built-in thermal sensor and Schuko plug, designed to protect condensate drainage systems from freezing. Delivers 15 W/m heating output and automatically activates at +3 °C and switches off at +12 °C. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Tecnosystemi SCC300018 6 m anti-freezing silicone heating cable with built-in thermal sensor and Schuko plug for freeze protection of condensate drain pipes and HVAC drainage systems. Provides 15 W/m heating output, switching on automatically at +3 °C and off at +12 °C. Suitable for indoor and outdoor installations.
Tecnosystemi SCC300019 9 m anti-freezing silicone heating cable with integrated thermal sensor and Schuko plug, providing automatic freeze protection for condensate drainage systems. Delivers 15 W/m heating output and operates automatically between +3 °C and +12 °C. For indoor and outdoor HVAC installations.

Outside, condensate can freeze and block the drain line, and a trace heating cable prevents that. Each cable has a thermostat and comes in 3 m, 6 m or 9 m lengths, at 15 W per metre and 230 V. It switches on at about +3 °C and off again at about +12 °C.
The cable runs along the outdoor section of the drain pipe. Under a heat pump, a floor-mounted condensate tray with its own anti-freeze cable keeps the defrost water from icing up.
Common questions
Which length do I need?
Take the length of the drain line that runs outside, from the wall to the drain. The cables come in 3 m, 6 m and 9 m.
Does the cable run all the time?
No. The thermostat switches it on at about +3 °C and off again at about +12 °C, so it heats only when the line can freeze.
